Meet the Physicians at Manchester Osteopathic Healthcare

Douglas J. Jorgensen, D.O.
Dr. Jorgensen is a board certified physician in Family Practice (FP/OMT) and Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (NMM/OMM).  He was board certified by the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians in July of 1998 and by the American Osteopathic Board of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine in April of 2003.

Dr. Jorgensen began his professional career as a Family Practitioner at the Western Maine Family Health Center in Livermore Falls, Maine in the fall of 1998.  He remained there until the spring of 2001 when he opened Manchester Osteopathic Healthcare in Manchester, Maine to focus his efforts on osteopathic manipulative medicine and pain management.

Dr. Jorgensen is a 1996 graduate of UHS-COM, the University of Health Sciences College of Osteopathic Medicine (which recently was renamed the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences) in Kansas City, Missouri.  He served his internship year at the Maine-Dartmouth Family Practice Program in Augusta, Maine.  He then completed a Family Practice Residency at the same institution in 1999, serving as Chief Resident.

During his graduate and undergraduate years, Dr. Jorgensen received the UHS-COM President’s Award for outstanding contributions to the community and for furthering the public’s understanding of osteopathic medicine.  He also received the Garcelon-Merritt Medical Scholarship and the Colonial William Henry Owen award from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in May of 1991.

Dr. Jorgensen was subsequently recognized by the Maine Osteopathic Association with the Roswell P. Bates, D.O. Public Service Award in 2003 and he also returned to his medical college alma mater in 2003 to accept the UHS-COM Young Alumni Achievement Award.  Additional recognition includes the American Osteopathic Foundation’s Wyeth Emerging Leader Award in 2003.

Dr. Jorgensen has been very active in multiple state and national organizations, and is currently on the Board of Directors for the Maine Osteopathic Association, a member of Socioeconomics Committee for the American Osteopathic Association, and Chairman of the Osteopathic Medical Economics Committee of the American Academy of Osteopathy.  He is also the Editor of the Osteopathic Family Physician News and has written many articles in various osteopathic publications and frequently lectures on billing and coding to physician groups all over the United States.

Charles G. Landry, D.O.
Dr. Landry is a board certified physician in Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (NMM/OMM).  The examination process of the American Osteopathic Board of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine requires the candidate demonstrate special skill and expertise in this area of practice.  To achieve certification he needed to successfully complete written, oral and practical examinations.

Dr. Landry joined Dr. Jorgensen in practice at Manchester Osteopathic Healthcare in July of 2004.  He provides Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment using a variety of techniques as well as several forms of injection therapy.

Dr. Landry is a 2001 graduate of the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNECOM) in Biddeford, Maine.  He served his general medicine internship through the University of New England at Mercy Hospital in Portland, Maine.  He then completed a two-year residency specializing in NMM/OMM through the University of New England at Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford, Maine and University Health Care in South Portland.  His training included multiple osteopathic techniques as well as specialized training in prolotherapy, trigger point injection therapy, dry needling, facet blocks, and joint, ligament, and tendon injections.

Dr. Landry is a native of Maine, raised in the Lewiston/Auburn area and a 1993 graduate of St. Dominic’s Regional High School.

Dr. Landry is a member of the Maine Osteopathic Association, the American Osteopathic Association, and the American Academy of Osteopathy.

Miguel A. Velazquez, D.O.

Dr. Velazquez is a board certified physician in Family Practice (FP/OMT) and Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (NMM/OMM).  He was board certified by the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians in March of 2005 and by the American Osteopathic Board of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine in March of 2006.   

Dr. Velazquez graduated in June of 2001 from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (KCOM/A.T. Still University), in Kirksville, Missouri.  After finishing his rotating internship at Forest Park Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, in June of 2002, he moved to Maine and completed the three-year Combined Residency Program (Family Practice and Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine) at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine, in 2005.  During residency, he held the national post of President of the Post-Graduate American Academy of Osteopathy (PAAO) from 2004-2005, and Vice-President of the PAAO from 2—3-2004.  He uses many Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment techniques in his practice, as well as several forms of injection therapy.  He is also a preceptor for the University of New England in Biddeford, and the Maine-Dartmouth Family Practice Residency Program in Augusta, Maine.  Dr. Velazquez worked at a large multi-specialty practice in Westbrook, Maine, before joining the Manchester Osteopathic Healthcare family.

Dr. Velazquez is originally from Venezuela, and is fluent in Spanish, French and Italian in addition to English.  He received his Master of Science degree in May of 1997 from Barry University in Miami Springs, Florida, and his Bachelor of Science degree in May of 1995 from the University of Miami.  He is an avid runner and has completed four marathons in the past several years.
